What does urban planning deal with?

I'd just like to know if urban planning deals with a lot of math, because I understand that architecture does, and they are similar in many ways. Also, does urban planning involve a lot of science? If so, which specific subjects in science?

1. It often leads to jobs in government. Yes, it involves architecture, but also many other disciplines, and has a larger scale overview than architecture.
